Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! (Hey this applies to clothing, too.)

Read on for a how to guide for refreshing your wardrobe at a minimal cost.
Okay, so it's not that serious.  Sounds serious... but I promise, it's still fun and interesting.

So the other half of this blog, Becca, made it her New Years resolution to not buy anything new.  Save for the $2 placemats that I "gifted" her from Target, I'd say she's proven pretty successful in her efforts.  I won't claim to have been so steadfast, but I am pretty tough when it comes to shelling out my hard earned cash.  She's lucky I splurged for the placemats.  That being said...

With the warmer season upon us, I was pleasantly surprised at the fashion that crept onto the pages, shelves, blogs, (dare I say it, Pinterest?!), and sidewalks.  I got inspired by my surroundings and then I went to the local second hand stores and got down to business.  I was on a mission and yes, I was smiled on by the thrift store gods.  I highly suggest keeping a list (or even just a mental list) for making these trips more successful.  I have found myself too many times with sagging shoulders in the middle of a few too many overflowing racks and shopping carts drooling uncontrollably and dreaming about color coordinated racks that are organized from extra small to extra large. I only wish I were kidding.

It's good to keep in mind that what you find is not necessarily what you will have.  A seam here, a stitch there, taking off a button, hemming an awkward skirt, cutting out a shoulder pad or sleeve- all of these things will breathe life back into a dated garment.

So here's the breakdown, as follows:

The Thrift Store Finds &
The Real Deal

I'll post the "Real Life" photos as they occur.  You'll have to give me time, though, because there are only so many days in the week; and even fewer that I actually make myself presentable.

I hope that we will continue  to be a source of inspiration to conserve, reuse, revamp and revive old garments.  There is truly nothing more fun than creating something fun and new out of something old and beautiful.  An added bonus? You're wearing an original- no twin dresses at this party (ahem).

   Good day, friends!
